1. The name on my student card is wrong, what should I do?

Bring your passport to our office in Building 208 Room 129C and we will make the necessary changes.

2. My student card is not working, where should I go?

Come to our Customer Service Team in building 208 and we will try and help you or refer you to the best person.

3. I want to change my mainstream offer, what should I do?

Please contact Curtin International at ci-apply@curtin.edu.au or visit our friendly staff in Curtin Connect (Building 102).

Gateway English answers

1. I have a family emergency and I need to go home, who should I contact?

Please come to the Curtin English Customer Service and make an appointment to see Student Services. You will be required to complete a leave request form if you are coming back, or an early withdrawal form if you are stopping your studies. Student Services will let you know if we need any other documents.

2. I have not met entry into Curtin College, what should I do?

You should contact Curtin College (Building 205) and speak to someone from their Admissions Team.

3. I have not met entry into the English Language Bridging course, what should I should?

You will be given an appointment time to meet with a Curtin English staff member, please check your Curtin email or ask our Customer Service team for more information.

4. I feel like my class is too easy, can I change class?

You need to provide us with English test score results showing that your English level is higher than the class you are currently in. Please bring the result to our Student Services team.

5. I feel like my class is too hard, can I change class?

Please talk to your teacher, or come and make an appointment at Student Services to meet with the ELT Coordinator.

6. Can I resit an exam?

Only under two circumstances can you resit an exam:

a. You were sick and have a medical certificate; or

b. You have a personal issue and saw a counsellor.

7. My Blackboard is not working, who can help me?

Ask your teacher to speak to the ELT Coordinator or come to Student Services.

8. I was absent when the results were given out, how can I get my results?

Please collect your results from Student Services.

9. I have met entry to Curtin College/ELB/Curtin University, what should I do?

You will need to obtain a paper from Curtin College/Curtin English/Curtin University saying that you have met entry into your course. Depending on how much time you have until your course begins you might be allowed to stop your studies with us. Please visit Student Services with your letter from Curtin International, English scores and air plane ticket if you are going back home until your course starts.

10. I want to study English somewhere else, what should I do?

Only after the first six month of studying with us can you usually change school. If that is the case, ask to meet with Student Services and bring your new letter of offer along.

ELB answers

1. What are the entry requirements to the ELB course?

At application, you will be asked to provide Curtin English with your university letter of offer. This states the IELTS or equivalent score required to start your mainstream course. You need to have an IELTS or equivalent of one band below your letter of offer for the 17 week course or half a band below for the 10 week course.

2. What score do I need to get into the university?

Please see your Curtin University letter of offer.

3. I want to change my class, is it possible?

You cannot change your class – if there is something you don’t like, try to talk to your teacher or please make an appointment to see Student Services.

4. I have a family emergency and I need to go home, who should I contact?

Please come to Curtin English Customer Services and make an appointment to see our friendly Student Services Officers, you will be required to complete a leave request form if you are coming back, or an early withdrawal form if you are stopping your studies. Our Student Services Officers will let you know if we need any other documents. Alternatively, you can email us on curtinenglish@curtin.edu.au.

5. How do I make an appointment to see the ELT Coordinator?

You can make an appointment using our online booking system.

6. My Blackboard is not working, what should I do?

Ask your teacher to speak to the ELT Coordinator or come to our Customer Service.

7. How can I view my results?

Please check your OASIS account for your results.

8. I have met entry to Curtin university, what can I do?

You will need to obtain a paper from Curtin International saying that you have met entry into your course. Depending on how much time you have until your course begins you might be allowed to stop your studies with us. Please come and meet our Student Advisor with your letter from Curtin International and airplane ticket if you are going back home until your course starts.

General answers

1. I was unwell and did not attend class, do I need a medical certificate?

You will need a medical certificate if you are absent for more than 2 days. Please bring it to Student Services.

2. I lost my results/completion certificate, what should I do?

Complete and sign a Student Request Form and drop it at our Customer Service. Please note that you will need to pay $10 for each result/completion certificate copy you request.

3. How do I get an attendance certificate?

Complete and sign a Student Request Form and drop it at our Customer Service. Please note that you will need to pay $10 if you have already requested this once.

4. Can I park anywhere on campus and how much does it cost?

There are designated student parking areas please visit the parking website for more information about cost and how it works.

5. I will be studying until very late, is it safe to walk to my car/bus station?

You can call Curtin Safer Community Team on +61 8 9266 4444 to escort you to your car or the bus station.

6. Can I drive using my home country's driver's license?

The WA police advises that you obtain a WA driver's license if you will be in Australia for any longer than three months. Please visit the licensing website for further information.

7. I lost my SmartRider, what should I do?

Visit our Customer Service and complete a new SmartRider form, you will then bring the form to the Bookshop. You will need to contact Transperth for them to cancel your lost card and they will transfer any remaining money to your new card.

8. I lost my student card, what should I do?

You will need to go to Curtin Connect (Building 102) to obtain a new card, please also call Curtin Safer Community Team on +61 8 9266 4444 and let them know so they can cancel your lost card.

9. How do I get a letter saying that I am currently studying at Curtin English?

Complete and sign a Student Request Form and drop it at our Customer Service.

10. Where can I heat my food?

There are a few microwaves around the university you can find one in the student common room in the Guild.

11. Are there any computers on campus for me to use?

There are a lot of computer labs around the university, these include building 303 and the library. Visit the CurtinLife website for more information.

12. I have changed my address, who should I advise?

Please change your contact details on your OASIS. Visit our Customer Service if you need help with this.

Please make an appointment to see our Student Services. Please also remember that our Safer Community Team is here 24/7 and you can call them on 9266 444.

2. I need to see the doctor, where should I go?

There is a medical service on campus, you can call them on +61 8 9266 7345. If you cannot make an appointment with them and urgently need to see a doctor please visit our Customer Service.

3. I am being harassed and need help, where can I go?

Come meet Student Services or call our Safer Community Team on +61 8 9266 4444.

4. One of my friends is having problems, how can I help him/her?

You can contact the Safer Community Response Team, you can make an anonymous referral.
